Have you noticed that whitelists are requiring more grinding? And mint prices are going up? And total number being minted is going up? Smells like greed to me.
I love NFTs and what they offer – but I think it’s worthwhile to take a step back now and then and ask ‘WTF is going on here?’
At the moment – we have been gentrified in the worst possible way. Artists and musicians and people seeking community created this space in our culture. They have largely been pushed out by con artists, hype marketers, and celebrity or brand cash grabs. Be careful out there folks – I’m going to sum it all up in two words that most of you will remember:
Stranger Danger. If you don’t know them, you probably shouldn’t trust them – or their hyped up project.

For Discussion:
This week, resurfaced tweets from ENS Domains Director of Operations Brantly Millegan outraged the Web3 space with expressions of toxic hate toward the LGBTQ+ community, a denouncement of women’s reproductive rights, and an indictment of anyone who practices self-love.
Given the opportunity to walk back the 2016 tweets, Millegan instead doubled down on his intolerance and a debate ensued in social spaces as to whether someone who wishes to erase certain identities should continue to hold power in an organization specifically charged with providing identities in the form of decentralized domains.
Many holders of the $ENS governance token removed Millegan as their delegate in advance of a decision by True Names Limited to terminate his contract.
The question for the literary NFT community is how we draw the line when hateful or harmful views are inevitably pushed out on NFT publishing platforms, or whether Web3 speech should be policed by consequences in the larger Web3 community. Some would argue that empowering authors requires us to be a common carrier for all viewpoints, while others say there should be no tolerance for intolerance.

The Graveyard
These are projects that I wanted to believe in that simply seem like they are dead. I bought into many of these instead of the winning projects above. Take that as a warning. I sincerely hope that they resurrect – but when I put them here, it means that I’ve stopped believing and looking. I hope to someday have a section at the top called ‘Resurrections’ for when projects in the Graveyard manage to rise up again. As time goes on, I have no doubt this will be the biggest section of this newsletter and I will let it keep growing so that those who care to look can understand that the majority of projects fail and investors lose money.
