GM Frens,

I’m in the midst of rethinking the daily schedule and how to distribute this morning briefing. Here’s what isn’t going to go away – Mondays: Literature NFTs | Wednesdays: Music NFTs | Thursdays: Travel NFTs | DJKupo’s Weekly Crypto Roundup. These four features fit the core of what we are building here at Vagobond. However, I’m going to be phasing out the other daily updates – so you will no longer be getting days focused on gaming, DAOs, or influencer projects on specific days.

In terms of distribution – I’m still not sure what the best way to go about that is. I’ve used a few different delivery methods including Twitter, Discord link dropping, Substack, and here on this site. It’s directly labor intensity proportional. If I spend more time visits go up, if I spend less time visits go down – unfortunately the going down is sustained and grows but the going up appears to have reached a leveling off point.

The question really is what is it that I’m building here – what is this thing that you and I are a part of. The bottom line is this: WE are building a community for Web3 creatives to learn and earn from so that creatives can focus more creating and experiencing (which leads to more creation). What do I want Vagobond to be?

a place where creatives can learn and earn from shared information and resources in the exploding world of Web3
a place where creatives can collaborate and support one another in creating art, music, literature, and disruptive project
a place where trusted friendships can be built and born
a trusted travel network of friends with shared interests

That last bit is really interesting to me. As many of you know, Couchsurfing provided some of the best experiences of my life both locally, nationally, and abroad. I’d like to see Vagobond become a Web3 Creative version of Couchsurfing. Imagine you go to Lisbon and you can stay with a fellow NFT artist, writer, or musician. Personally, I generally have great experiences when I interact with creatives while I travel – and when I interact with non-creatives, well, it is generally a sort of Larry David ‘eh…’ kind of interaction. I suspect this is true for you as well. I don’t know…maybe bankers have the same sort of experience. They might be like “I enjoy spending time with bankers in other cities but when I spend time with non-bankers it is pure vanilla”

So this is the point of everything. This is the point of Bald Jesus and Bald Jesusism. It’s the point of the books I’ve written. It’s the point of this and many of the websites I’ve built through the years. The point has been to connect with other creatives and often the route to get there has been through trying to monetize life. I think there must be a better way. I think this is probably that better way.

The March full moon is the ‘Sugar Moon’ on this day (March 17th in Hawaii) we share sweet treats with kids and the people we love and also – take the day off work if you can. Enjoy yourself. March 14th is world Pi Day. On this day we celebrate math and eat pie. Sharing pie with math lovers is a very Bald Jesus thing to do. If you are baking pies, cut the pi symbol in the top of your pie! The big one for March though is Garden Day aka Spring Equinox – Generally around March 21st. Do some gardening, get outside, feel the soil under your bare feet. Review your goals and aspirations for the year. Meditate on happiness. Gather with friends.

These are projects that I wanted to believe in that simply seem like they are dead. I bought into many of these instead of the winning projects above. Take that as a warning. I sincerely hope that they resurrect – but when I put them here, it means that I’ve stopped believing and looking. I hope to someday have a section at the top called ‘Resurrections’ for when projects in the Graveyard manage to rise up again. As time goes on, I have no doubt this will be the biggest section of this newsletter and I will let it keep growing so that those who care to look can understand that the majority of projects fail and investors lose money.
